I remember when I was younger being amazed by some of the old manuals, books, and engineering tools of my grandfather. Actually I recall being very interested in most of the antiques that we scattered and hidden in different parts of the basement. My grandfather was a United States Merchant Marine and a boiler inspector. I remember carrying his small books and manuals around and being drawn in by the tiny details in their illustrations long before I could read. I still can’t understand 99% of the books’ contents, but I picked them up and was again fascinated by the layouts, logo work, and intricate illustration of the 1940’s.
Here’s some of what I found:
This logo is from the inside cover of the 1944 novel “Uncertain Glory” by Herb Meadow.
What a great cover page.
This particular book was reprinted in 1941.
Just the spines.
