I had a pair of Simple shoes when I was in high school. Then it was just a more comfortable alternative to Converse All-Stars, but now the company has a new outlook involving organic materials, and treads made of recycled tires. Good stuff.

According to Simple, “Just because a shoe is planet-friendly doesn’t mean that it has to look like a hippie clod-hopper.” If you look at more of their styles, that may not be entirely true, but it’s a good start at least.
Another shoe company that I know has sustainability on its mind is Chaco. Their theory relies more on making quality footwear that can be repaired instead of thrown in the landfill.
